I tried these guys out the other night when I was wondering and had no clue what I wanted to eat. I picked the make your own combo just because I figured it was safe. And it was! My chille rellenos was good, the beans were fresh tasting, my tamale was a little gummy but the chips were fantastic. I want to be conservative with my rating because it was only one meal. I will definitely go to dine in on another visit; the interior was very clean and very inviting and the bartender was very nice even though it was clear they were trying to close up.

Service was good, but that's where it stopped. The 3 salsas that come out before the entree were all horrible. The guacamole tasted like was premade, and not very well. Margaritas were a 5 out of 10 at best, had the tequila been any lower quality, the would het a lower review

Pleasantly surprised! The decor is tasteful, the food is a cut above standard Mexican fare, and the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. I can see it being a great lunch stop for busy employees--we were in and out very quickly. The three salsas were all very good--I particularly enjoyed the spicy green salsa. We got chicken fajitas and they were tasty, had slightly more flavor than plain old fajitas (maybe a special sauce?) cheese dip was reasonable price, too! Most places now charge $6-8 for cheese dip-here it was $4 for a decent sized bowl. I will definitely be back to try their margaritas!

Went there last week. Several things I was impressed with. First, the greeting. Everyone said hi and bye at this even the bartender! My waiter was super awesome and friendly. Second, definitly dig the 3 salsas they give you to start and it's free unlike other Mexican/tex- mex places. Finally the food, was full portions and unique to this Mexican restaurant, beautifully put together instead of like a bunch of rice, beans, cheese, all touching together in a slop fashion.

We visited for the first time based on a friend's recommendation. And so glad we did! The decor is very comfortable & stylish, the staff was friendly, pleasant & attentive and the drinks were top notch! I had the Prickly Pear Margarita & my wife had the Mango Mojito...both were fabulous. Dinner was delicious, and well presented. We had the Mexican Lasagna & the Pollo Adobo...both wonderful. We will definitely be back!

I didn't know what to expect from this place based on the looks of the outside, but I was pleasantly surprised. The decor on the inside is awesome, and the food didn't disappoint either. I went back the next week to try another dish because all the food looked so delicious.

I went for lunch about 12:40 on July 15, 2015. It might be my only visit. The food and service were good (until I received bill). I told my waiter to give me $7.00 change from a $20.00. That would include a good tip. I counted the 6 $1 bills I was handed three times. Quite obviously, I was short-changed a dollar. Because I was handed all $1s, I wasn't supposed to double-check my change.

Have eaten lunch at Ponchitos twice in the past month, and recommend it to anyone who likes TexMex. Where most Mexican places offer chips and salsa, Ponchitos serves three different sauces. All three are good, but those with a sensitive mouth might want to avoid the green one - very hot spice-wise. The table-side guacamole is also very tasty. The lunch menu has plenty of variety and reasonable prices. I've had the breakfast burritos and the fajitas, and really liked both. Their rice and refried beans are better seasoned than most competitors'. Since I usually eat lunch late, I took advantage of their happy hour pricing on drinks, which starts at 2pm. The tall Dos Equis Amber on draft hit the spot and kept me interesting for the rest of the day, though my wife might disagree. Plan to return for dinner before too long to check out the rest of their menu.

Another Mexican restaurant (as if we don't already have enough?), yet with some interesting twists. I was pleasantly surprised with the options Ponchitos offers. You start with unlimited, free chips and salsa (three flavors to be exact.) Watch out for the green one - although delicious, it packs a punch! The black bean salsa is also very good. I opted for the Mexican Lasagna, which has a kick to it. It's hard to explain, but includes layers of tortillas, cheese, shredded chicken, etc. It also comes with a side of rice and beans. Good service and atmosphere, too.

Came here on Cinco de Mayo. They were packed as expected. I asked for a seat out side for me and my wife. I was told a 30 minute wait and we went to bar and got a margarita. After 40 minutes we asked about our table as we saw empty ones outside. We were then told that they were no longer seating anyone anywhere. And that we weren't going to be able to get served. After wasting 40 Minutes!!!!! Jose the manager/owner had a smirk as we said that this was unacceptable and ridiculous. Will never go back. And would tell everyone else to stay away.

In Little Rock, authentic Mexican restaurants have somehow gotten generic to me. Ponchitos has quickly become one of my favorites from the fajitas to the Razorback Enchiladas (my personal favorite). I have also noticed more and more people have also caught on when I started coming here, because there is much more of a crowd now days. If you haven't tried it, you must come. I prefer it to the fancier Local Limes of the town, just that the price and the atmosphere is more to my liking. They also give you three kinds of salsa (a normal tomato, green, and chipotle) when you sit down that are all great in my opinion. The wait staff is always great. Don't let the location of the Kmart parking lot fool you, this is not a place to pass up!!!

Hey, if you like cheap and fast Mexican food This is your place. I was staying at the La Quinta down the road and I called in a order. Literally a 10 minute pickup. Huge bag of chips and dips, mushroom spinach enchiladas and beans and rice for $14.

Meh nails it. It's fine AMERICAN Mexican food. Cheese dip app was the star of the meal, chorizo was bland, chimi while healthier, wasn't fried. That's called a burrito! I'll continue to look for a decent Mexican spot out west.

Ok... SO- when we walked in, immediately I was taken in by the atmosphere; clean and modern yet pulling from traditional mexican decor. We were welcomed by a trio of artisan house - made salsas, wich were complimentary. The service was prompt and friendly, and the house margaritas were amazing! The food came out quickly and tasted amazing! I'll definitely be back!

I was pleasantly surprised. The food is much better than the typical Mexican restaurant. They do the 3 types of salsa even better than local lime and the Los tacos with soft corn tortillas are delicious. We will definitely be going back

Go here!! If you like Mexican, and GREAT margaritas...go here. The specialty margaritas are wonderful; especially the Jalapeño! The Cilantro is good too. Their three salsas are very tasty, and the jalapeno is spicy, just the way we like it. Chili Rellenos are especially good, and the tableside guacamole it the best in LR. We found the wait staff to be just the right amount of attentive and not bothersome. Our waiter also made great recommendations about the margaritas. It is locally owned, which we were not expecting, and the food is freshly made. Give it a try!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
